io9 is looking for interns who are obsessed with science fiction, science, and futurism. This internship is for fall, and lasts from late September until January. Applications are due Sept. 17.
An intern works 10 hours per week. Day-to-day, the job involves seeking out story ideas and helping editors gather more data for stories they’re working on. You’ll be learning how to conduct research, do fact-checking, and contact sources in the science and entertainment industries for story ideas and information. Some writing may be involved too, depending on experience. You must be detail-oriented, very familiar with science and/or science fiction, and able to work quickly. Photoshop and graphic design skills are a plus, as is a familiarity with common blogging tools.
You can telecommute to this job from anywhere, as long as you are available online during working hours PST or EST. This is an unpaid internship. You must be 18 or over to apply.
