WandaVision Scores Big With the 2021 Emmy Awards Nominations

The Marvel Cinematic Universe raked in 28 nominations at the 73rd Annual Emmy Awards.

Turns out, it was Agatha all along! WandaVision has secured almost two dozen nominations at this year’s Emmy Awards, including Best Limited Series, making it one of the biggest shows of the year. However, what may be even more surprising is the award-worthy rise of the Karate Kid.

The Television Academy has unveiled the latest string of nominations for the 73rd annual Emmy Awards, which come at a time when television has seemed more important than ever. The rise in streaming services—combined with the the novel coronavirus pandemic keeping many people at home for months—led to a rise in popularity among several new and returning shows. Disney+ scored big with WandaVision (23 nominations) and The Mandalorian (24 nominations)—combined with The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, that means Disney+ brought in over 50 nominations this year (as reported by Deadline). These include best performances for Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany, Kathryn Hahn, Giancarlo Esposito, and Don Cheadle.

Lovecraft Country secured a few noms for its first and only season, since HBO has since canceled the series. Amazon Prime Video got a Best Drama Series nomination for its anti-superhero saga The Boys, and Cobra Kai (which is now on Netflix after debuting on YouTube Red) has been nominated for Best Comedy Series. In fact, Netflix has a lot of nominations this year, including one for Emily in Paris that I will yell to the heavens about incessantly because that show was the pits. Also because Mythic Quest deserved better. Here’s a full list of this year’s nominations.
