Okay, maybe the world isn’t weeping, but whatever, I’m over it. Joel Johnson, a man who I knew in the Tribes gaming community prior to Gizmodo, hired me on as an intern. Two years, more than 3500 posts written, and many stressful tradeshows later, I am hanging up my giant blogging sombrero and pajamas.
I’m not going to get into a sob story, but I’ll just update you folks on what I’ll be doing. I just graduated from Kansas State University with a B.S. in print journalism and I am packing my bags and heading to Dallas where I am going to take a stab at the world of public relations. It was definitely a tough month-long decision I made and luckily, it will allow me to continue working with all of the great bloggers I have befriended over the years, but this time I will be drinking the Samsung Mobile Kool-Aid.
I could write a novel reflecting on the world of blogging and how I have seen it change over the past two years, but I’ll spare you. It’s been one hell of a ride and I want to thank all of the readers, many of which I have become friends with, and all of the Gizmodo and Gawker staff over the years. Thanks for the good memories. (The Bette Midler impersonating blackjack dealer at the Imperial Palace from CES 2007 still gives me nightmares.)
If you just want to keep in touch or if you are in the Dallas area and want to grab a beer (you know I love my beer) and talk gadgets, sports or whatever hit me up at [email protected].
Until then, GFY.
Best,
Travis Hudson
