This Gold-Plated Bike Is Real and Costs $1,000,000

Choosing the right bike can be a difficult process, but now there’s an obvious choice for those with more money than sense: this frankly insane gold-plated Salsa Mukluk, which weighs in at a startling $1,000,000.

Created by the House of Solid Gold, the so-called Beverly Hills Edition of the Mukluk is embellished and encrusted with over 600 Black Diamonds and 500 Golden Sapphires. It features a saddle clad in chocolate brown alligator skin and a that’s water bottle covered in gold and accented with chocolate brown stingray and laser engraved branding. No cheap decals here, thank you very much. The things is pretty much dripping in gold: spokes, rims, drivetrain, pedals and even the valve caps are coated in the stuff.

Just what you need for a day on the trail, really. Each one takes 750 hours to manufacture, though presumably labor accounts for a rather small percentage of the $1,000,000. [HoSG via Huh via Gizmodo UK]
