In an open room in the Museum of Modern Art in Bologna, amidst plain white walls, a vertiginous tower stretches to the ceiling. From a distance, it appears to be made of thin multicolor bricks. They’re actually thousands of books:
The book tunnel is an installation called Scanner, by Slovakian artist Matej Krén, intended to fill its audience with awe and confusion. The awe-factor is apparent, and once inside the structure, the confusion is heightened by mirrors which multiply the already-dizzying number of volumes.
They say it’s easy to get lost in a good book. I’d imagine it’s even easier to get lost in a hall of mirrors made from thousands of them. [MAMbo via Inhabitat]
