After teasing it at CinemaCon yesterday, Blumhouse has released our first full trailer for M3GAN 2.0, and the robot killer’s story is only getting wilder in round two.
The new trailer sees M3GAN (played by Amie Donald and voiced by Jenna Davis) resurrected to take on a new threat once again putting her creator Gemma (Allison Williams) and Gemma’s niece Cady (Violet McGraw) in danger: a new, advanced killer A.I. built out of M3GAN’s original designs by a weapons manufacturer. Codenamed Amelia, and played by Ahsoka‘s Ivanna Sakhno, she’s of course gone rogue, much like M3GAN herself did, and now Gemma has to help give her creation a glamorous, long-legged upgrade so she can have the mother of all mother-offs with her new robo-rival.
The new trailer (which seemingly shows you a lot of the movie) is suitably ludicrous, complete with a dramatic trailer cut of the Britney classic “Oops! I Did It Again”, and plenty of nods to a meta-acknowledgement of M3GAN’s viral dancing legacy suggesting that this film is going to have plenty of fun about the wild trajectory this franchise is going in. From serious horror doll vibes to Alita: Battle Angel style sci-fi action shenanigans? Sure!
M3GAN 2.0 hits theaters June 27.
