Google Might Be Opening Its Own Google Stores

According to 9to5Google, Google has plans to open standalone retail stores to sell Google products like the Nexus 4, Nexus 7, Nexus 10, Chromebooks, Google Glasses and more. The goal is to open its first flagship Google Store by the end of the year.

Unlike Google’s current pop up-style stores inside Best Buys, these Google Stores will be more like Apple Stores and Microsoft Stores. A destination where people can come get a feel of Google’s products (and there is a lot more these days) in person, in an environment that Google controls. And hell, maybe they can search on Google or buy a Google Doodle Tee too.

Supposedly, the idea for Google Stores came from Google execs wanting people to get hands on (er, eyes on) time with Google Glasses. That makes sense, as there aren’t too many people in the world who would drop a thousand dollars on an entirely brand new product sight unseen. If this report is true, it also shows how serious Google is taking Google Glasses—it’s opening up an entire line of brick and mortar stores for them. [9to5Google]
