Hell Yeah, Godzilla Minus One is Stomping Back to Theaters

The franchise turns 70 years old, which means it's a good time to rewatch Godzilla Minus One on the big screen.

Godzilla Minus One was one of the biggest, surprises of 2023, and one of the year’s best in general. It’s alredy made its way to streaming and physical formats, but if you’ve been chomping to see it in theaters again, Toho’s more than happy to oblige.

The Oscar-winning hit will play in theaters one more time beginning on November 1, both in its regular and black-and-white (aka “Minus Color“) formats. To sweeten the deal, this new version of Minus One will inlclude an additional 13 minutes worth of exclusive behind the scenes material. It’s all in service of Godzilla Day, which lands on November 3, and commemorates the 70th birthday for the original 1954 film’s theatrical release in Japan. How long is it going on? Toho didn’t say, so it might be best to get a viewing in while the opportunity’s there.

Beyond Minus One, 2024 has been a pretty big year for Godzilla. The American-made MonsterVerse version of the character (whose 2014 film turned 10 this year) returned in Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, which went on to be a big hit for WB and Legendary, and is getting a follow-up in the near future. Monarch, a pretty good TV spinoff set within that same universe, got greenlit for a second season (and potentially other spinoffs to join it), and the big lizard also made a guest spot in DLC for the pretty well-received game Dave the Diver.

So if you find yourself in need of some more Godzilla in your life before 2024 comes to a close—and really, why wouldn’t you?—you can check for Godzilla Minus One showtimes right here. Peep a fresh new poster for the re-release down below.
