Everyone Is Killing Themselves in the Latest Trailer for the Afterlife Drama The Discovery

The latest trailer for the scifi drama The Discovery will mess you up. Jason Segel, Rooney Mara, and Robert Redford star in the film, which imagines a world where the afterlife has been proven to exist, so people have started to kill themselves to move onto the next plane of existence.

In the midst of this, Segel and Mara’s characters begin to kindle a complicated relationship, a relationship where they both have to think, “Is life the best place to pursue our feelings?”

The Discovery premiered at last month’s Sundance Film Festival to generally mixed reviews. Even so, it’s coming to Netflix on March 31 and the new trailer is creepy and intriguing. Check it out.

Along the dynamite premise and cast, The Discovery was written and directed by Charlie McDowell. That’s a name you may not know, but you should start to become familiar with. His first film, The One I Love, was another smart, surprising scifi film that starred Mark Duplass and Elizabeth Moss. If you haven’t seen that, seek it out (It used to be on Netflix but isn’t anymore). It’ll instantly make you more excited to see McDowell’s sophomore effort.

The Discovery comes to Netflix March 31.
