Don’t Bother Getting Excited About That Marvel/Fox Team-Up Rumor

But Fox/Marvel isn’t the only rumor getting debunked this morning. Plus Bryan Cranston talks about being a giant blue head with an unhealthy interest in teens with attitude, actor Benedict Wong discusses Dr. Strenge’s Wong, and more. Spoilers, ho!

Marvel/Fox

There was a rumor about Marvel and Fox partnering up to combine their superhero universes that made the rounds yesterday, after Matt Key, a producer on director Kevin Smith’s podcast “Fat Man on Batman” said the following:

I’ve heard from a few of my sources, my little birds, that Fox and Marvel have… kind of talked, but not really, but like there’s interest from Fox, like, ‘Ooh, y’know, what they did with Sony and Spider-Man is actually pretty cool, like, maybe…‘ We’re years away from that ever possibly happening… but I think that’s what it would take… Fox joining hands with Marvel…

Even assuming that Kevin Smith’s podcast producer has sources inside the highest echelons of Marvel Studios and Fox, his announcement that the two studios have “ kind of talked, but not really” doesn’t even warrant a grain of a salt at this point.

Dr. Strange

Actor Benedict Wong spoke about playing Wong in the film. Traditionally, Wong has been Strange’s majordomo, but it seems like he’ll now have far more to do with Strange’s mystical training:

I’m certainly not going to be the tea-making manservant. We’re heading in a different direction. He’s more of a drill sergeant. There isn’t any martial arts for Wong in ‘Doctor Strange,’ actually. He’s more of a drill sergeant to Kamar-Taj. He’s one of the masters of sorcery.

Power Rangers

Bryan Cranston spoke about being the most overqualified floating head in the history of cinema, namely the Power Rangers’ alien mentor Zordon:

Yes, it’s motion capture and it’s a lot of CGI-work. The tenant of that storyline is that this a real person who is trapped in this etherworld and it becomes this in-the-wall so to speak of [the command center], He still has a heart and mind, but an agenda that he’s got to get these five Power Rangers to defend the earth or else everyone they know will be killed. So, it’s exciting.
