Clippy is Back… But As a Game, Which is Still Bad

I remember hating it when Clippy popped up for no good reason while working. Now, even after Microsoft officially put him to rest, he’s doing it again. Only this time it’s in game form. Which is marginally better, I suppose?

Microsoft is having the much-maligned cartoon paperclip star in his own game, Ribbon Hero 2: Clippy’s Second Chance. According to the inexplicable PR:

Yes, we turned Office into a game! If you’re going to spend time immersed in the inner workings of Office, by golly it should be fun. In Ribbon Hero 2, you’ll hop on board Clippy’s stolen time machine and explore different time periods. With each time period, you get to explore a new game board with challenges you must complete to get to the next level. Each challenge takes you into Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or OneNote to complete a task.

I honestly can’t tell if that’s ironically corny or just corny. Either way, you don’t need this. The Office Suite certainly has learning curve, but relying on Clippy to learn it isn’t the way to go.
