During a recent double feature screening of the first two Happy Death Day movies, star Jessica Rothe and director Christopher Landon confirmed Universal is finally moving forward with another sequel.
Avengers: Doomsday
In conversation with Extra, Channing Tatum cast doubt on if he’s really playing Gambit in Avengers: Doomsday.
Personally, all I was guaranteed was a chair. They said that I have a chair, and I can at least watch the movie from the chair. You know, and it was just my name, it wasn’t exactly Gambit. So, I work in the world of just like, of binary yes or no’s, and I’ve only been guaranteed so far a chair to watch the movie in, so that’s where I’m at.
Meanwhile, Alan Cumming discussed his return as Nightcrawler on a recent episode of Today With Jenna and Friends.
Isn’t that nuts? It’s 23 years since I was a superhero…I’ve had some make-up tests already. Actually, what’s great about it was that it was about four-and-a-half to five hours before [to apply], but now it’s only 90 minutes. Before, all of the tattoos were done by hand because they hadn’t decided on them before we started filming, and now they’re on this little thing–they stick on. It’s a game-changer. So, I’m going back to being a 60-year-old superhero.
Avatar: Fire and Ash
Speaking with Empire Magazine, VFX supervisor Richard Baneham revealed Payakan the space whale plays a significantly larger role in Avatar: Fire and Ash.
He’s turned out to be one of the most popular characters. The reaction emboldened us to go forward and play Payakan at the very highest level.
Contagion 2
During his recent appearance on the One Decision podcast, Steven Soderbergh revealed he and Scott Z. Burns “have come up with some terrifying ideas” for a sequel to Contagion, but fears they’d be socially “irresponsible” to “put out there.”
[We’ve] come up with some terrifying ideas. There would have to be, I think, a plot that doesn’t feel predictable. And that’s the trick – when you’re working on any story, the ending needs to be both surprising and inevitable. The fun of it is figuring out how to do those two things…
…I don’t want to torture people. There are scenarios that you could come up with that I would categorize as irresponsible; you know, that I would go, ‘That’s a big idea, but I’m not sure I want to put that idea out there, frankly.’ I do think about that.
Oswald: Down the Rabbit Hole
Bloody-Disgusting also reports the horror film based on Oswald the Lucky Rabbit has been “delayed indefinitely” due to an unsatisfactory script. However, writer-director Lilton Stewart III “is using the delay to focus on tightening the script.”
I recently got inspired by an idea that will definitely make the story tighter and flesh out some of the unanswered questions I was leaving for the sequel. Audiences will still have questions leading into the next chapter of the story, but will feel more satisfied at the conclusion of the first film.
Peacemaker/The Last Of Us/It: Welcome to Derry
Max has released a trailer for its 2025 programming roster including new footage from the upcoming It TV series, The Last of Us and Peacemaker season two. Additionally, James Gunn confirmed Peacemaker‘s August 21 debut on Twitter.
