Breaking Up With Bella Is Everyone’s Favorite Thing To Do In New Moon

While Twilight fans camped outside and chose sides (either Team Edward or Team Jacob) the mascots of both teams (Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner) told a press conference that dumping Bella was their favorite part of the movie.

Lead actors Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner and Robert Patterson spoke to a few media outlets before yesterday’s official panel, in a whirlwind of camera flashes and eyelinered leering. While the fans wore Burger King crowns denoting their allegiance to Team Edward or Team Jacob, the stars talked about why Bella can’t hold on to her men (loosely speaking, as one’s a wolfboy and the other the living dead.)

Asked about their favorite scene in the movie, the stars all mentioned breakup scenes:

Says Stewart: “[The breakup scene between Bella and Jacob] is my favorite scene. He basically tells her they can’t be friends anymore, that he’s… transforming.”

Adds Pattinson: “I think my breakup scene was my favorite scene too. It’s a very.. I don’t know. Hopefully it will come off as having a few more levels than their relationship in Twilight… It completely bypasses all the supernatural elements in the story.

For fans concerned that Pattinson’s shining countenance would be missing from the movie, as it is for the majority of the duration of the original novel, costar Stewart offered these words of assurance: “He’s in it…[but] if he doesn’t go, you can’t miss him. That’s what this movie’s about, is that, you know, empty, completely dark place where Edward is absent.”

Of course, if Pattinson was totally absent, then fangirls “would miss him very dearly,” lycanthrope Lautner chimed in.

Pattinson, on the other hand, claims that he was “much more of a supporting role in this one”, and that his apparition scenes, the way in which director Chris Weitz decided to deal with Bella’s hallucinations of Edward in his absence, involved him starting filming weeks after the rest of the cast and saying only a few words per week. “It was actually one of the most relaxing jobs I’ve ever done,” Pattinson shrugged.

Amongst his apparent gratitude and appreciation for the film, Lautner had but one request for his ever-growing army of fans: don’t ask him to growl.

“They ask me to growl for them.. and I really don’t enjoy doing that… please don’t ask me to growl. Just wait for the movie.”

“You can ask me anything you want,” Stewart claimed. Except about her personal relationship with Pattinson, that is.
