This is some old-school soul for you. A friend of once said that you ought to walk like you’ve got someplace you’ve gotta be. Bobby Womack’s classic Across 110th Street is the song for that occasion.
It’s obvious, no? Anyone who’s watched their fair share of Tarantino knows this from the intro to his homage to 70s blaxpoitation flicks, Jackie Brown. But he lifted the song itself from the 1972 film with the same name. And just so you know, Anthony Quinn is one of the greats. But for me, I always think of walking on a cold, wet night, on the way to something that simply must be done. Hard business. Like there’s no running from it. Just face it.
On a blustery New Jersey night like tonight, this song is perfect for getting things done. [iTunes]
