College football, you are in for a treat. Thanks to three year sponsorship from payment services provider BitPay, the NCAA is getting a Bitcoin Bowl. That’s right, a Bitcoin Bowl.
Per GigaOm, ESPN Events just announced the digital currency-sponsored sporting event earlier today. Important facts: It will be held in St. Petersburg, Florida. It will take place December 26. It will feature a team from the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and a team from the American Athletic Conference. You can use Bitcoin to buy tickets. The Bitcoin Bowl used to be called the Beef O’ Brady’s Bowl. It’s unclear if Beef O’Brady’s will continue to be served in the stadium, or if it was, or even what a Beef O’Brady is.
