10-year-old dies hours after mother in KZN N3 crash, brother sole survivor
A three-year-old is the only survivor of yesterday’s horror crash, following his mother’s and brother’s deaths.

One of the survivors from yesterday’s horrific crash near Balgowan in KZN succumbed to his injuries in hospital.
According to an article published by The Witness, Roland Robertson, the Midlands EMS spokesperson, confirmed the 10-year-old’s death this morning.
“It is with deep sadness that Midlands EMS confirms the passing of a 10-year-old child who was critically injured in yesterday’s [Thursday] tragic accident in Balgowan,” he says.
The child was airlifted from the scene in critical condition and transported to a nearby hospital shortly after the crash.
“Despite the relentless efforts of the medical teams, [he] sadly succumbed to [his] injuries last night,” he says.
From the same vehicle, a three-year-old child is the sole survivor and is currently receiving medical care.
Their mother died shortly after the crash.
“We extend our sincerest condolences to the bereaved family during this unimaginably difficult time. Our hearts go out to them as they cope with this devastating loss,” he says.
