Climate scientists thought stronger atmospheric rivers would accelerate Greenland's ice loss—but it might actually be slowing it down.
The vast landmass is melting quickly due to climate change, and may rapidly cause the complete loss of the island's ice.
"I do think it is serious, and potentially very dangerous,” one official said.
Camp Century, a subterranean military base in Greenland, was spotted under the icy expanse during a flight earlier this year.
